Seriously!! Receiving distress calls while at mid-warp? both as a part of your current mission or as a random event? ZOMG!!! I wouldn't be surprised if YOU as a player could send out your own distress call on command during a tough fight, which other players could then choose to respond to.

possible, but i dont think there will be cross band chat/call capabilities...but that would set the bar a bit higher...

Distress calls won't come in the form of chat, it's an actual icon that pops up while you're in the galaxy map warp-view (astrometrics view I believe is the correct term) indicating that someone has sent out a distress call and showing you where on the map.

It seems likely that there will be random encounters or episode based missions that could potentially involve you responding to what seems to be a Fed distress signal, only to be ambushed by hostiles. But it could also be possible that sending out false distress signals from the other faction could be a high tier skill that science officers could learn.

It's amazing what the mind can conjure up when anticipating something. I remember when they mentioned that there were going to bridges in game, I became this obsessed beast...lol

No, seriously, I am glad that Cryptic listens to their community...so many MMOs have started to say "wait, these people have some good ideas". I just think that being able to see people's ideas in-game makes for a more enticing and long lasting game experience, like the idea of having episodic content...brilliant!!!

I know this is going to be one of those games that I can pick up and play whenever I choose and it'll always feel fresh. Unlike Galaxies, or Eve...gaming in those games became tedious and boring...STO is going to be better and get better in time. Can't wait to build our fleet, with station, shipyards...hidden away in our corner of the galaxy. WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!
